In return, participants are asked to volunteer 18 hours at Discovery Garden throughout the growing season from May through October. Participants receive a certificate of completion. Registration information and deadlines for this course typically occur each March.

Community Planting Days

Community Planting Days Local elementary school children plant annuals during Discovery Garden’s Planting Days.

Participating Blair County Elementary school students who spending a day at the Discovery Garden with their school get a tour of the garden to learn about different kinds of plants. Each child who visits gets to plant a flower in the garden themselves as part of this activity.

Many children revisit the garden later in the summer to see how beautifully their plant grew.

The Discovery Garden is a multigenerational community project.
